The Last Visit to My Son's IEP Conference Room

The Last Visit to My Son's IEP Conference Room

I stood up slowly, and took in that space one last time, grabbed a couple more pictures and said goodbye to therapists I would see many more times, and other therapists and teachers I’d never see again. I waited as my wife finished some conversations. One last quick time, I reviewed the highlight reel in my head of all these meetings here, but more specifically, the hopes and dreams I brought into this room.

What if my child isn't able to learn about God and experience salvation?

What if my child isn't able to learn about God and experience salvation?

I can’t be certain what James understands about God, but I can be certain about what God understands about James. And I will trust in God’s love and care for my son from now until eternity.

Children of the Bible and My Autistic Son

Children of the Bible and My Autistic Son

The Bible is full of stories about children and young people: Mary, Joseph, David, Samuel, Esther, the widow’s son and Elijah, Naaman’s slave girl, Jairus’ daughter, etc. In thinking about some of these stories, I found many parallels in their stories and my son James.

Your Story Matters

Your Story Matters

We need community. But true community takes shape when the real living people in that community share their lives with each other. We create order out of chaos when we share our stories. When you share your story, you are sharing hope.

Tell Me The Old, Old Story

Tell Me The Old, Old Story

Telling stories of God’s ongoing faithfulness, of the people of God’s ongoing adventures with Him is important in our family life. The faith we have is not in a God who worked powerfully once upon a time in the past, but in a God who is living and active through the ages and today.
